Position: Piggery Worker

Position Type: Full-Time permanent/on-going or fixed term (Minimum 3 years)

Salary: $75,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Lavington NSW 2641

Our client is seeking an experienced Piggery Worker to support the day-to-day operations of a mid-size commercial piggery. The role focuses on animal welfare, breeding support, feeding programs, health management, and production monitoring. This position suits a candidate with strong hands-on piggery-specific animal husbandry experience who can apply established agricultural techniques under managerial guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor health, behaviour, and welfare of pigs across all production stages (sows, piglets, growers, finishers).
• Identify illness, injury, or abnormal behaviour and take appropriate action in line with protocols.
• Maintain high animal welfare standards in accordance with legislation and industry codes.
• Assist with heat detection, mating and artificial insemination.
• Support pregnancy monitoring, farrowing, piglet care and weaning processes.
• Maintain accurate breeding and production records.
• Assist in implementing stage-appropriate feeding programs.
• Monitor feed intake, growth rates, and body condition.
• Report feed quality or supply issues.
• Assist with vaccination programs and medication administration.
• Follow and enforce strict biosecurity and hygiene practices.
• Record treatments and health outcomes in accordance with QA systems.
• Monitor sheds, ventilation, temperature, water supply, and waste systems.
• Assist with manure and environmental management practices.
• Identify and report maintenance or operational issues.
• Maintain accurate records on animal identification, health, breeding, and performance.
• Assist with production reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Comply with workplace health and safety procedures.
• Actively contribute to a safe working environment.

Requirements:

• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma  in Agriculture, Animal Science or related field
• At least three (3) years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed
• Proven prior experience as a Piggery Worker
• Practical knowledge of pig production systems.
• Strong animal welfare focus and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a physical, farm-based environment.
• Good communication and record-keeping skills.
• Current driver licence.
• Unrestricted work rights in Australia.
