Our client is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their team in Melbourne, Victoria.

You will bring new business into the company and look after the clients they already have.

• Winning new clients. You find the right companies, start the conversation and turn it into the opportunity for work.
• Looking after relationships. You stay in touch with clients so that one project leads to another and maintain ongoing relationship.
• Representing the company in the market. You make sure the right people in the industry know who they are and what they do well.

You will work from the Melbourne office, report to Director, and work closely with the engineering and BIM team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Finding and winning new business

• Research and approach builders, developers, architects, building services contractors and consultants who suit our services.
• Generate leads through LinkedIn, email, phone, referrals, online platforms and industry research.
• Introduce our services clearly and arrange calls and meetings with prospective clients.
• Watch for upcoming projects, tenders and expressions of interest, and act on them early.
• Meet your agreed targets for new clients and new revenue.

Proposals and tenders

• Work out what the client needs, and confirm scope, timelines and pricing with our technical team.
• Prepare clear, accurate proposals and quotes, and follow up until a decision is made.
• Negotiate terms and close the deal within agreed margins.

Looking after clients

• Stay in regular contact with current and past clients to learn about their upcoming projects.
• Check in during delivery so that problems are raised and resolved early.
• Turn completed projects into repeat work and referrals.

Representing the company

• Attend industry events, site visits and networking functions.
• Help the team prepare case studies, project profiles and presentations.

Records and reporting

• Keep the CRM up to date, with follow-up notes and the status of every lead.
• Give the directors a regular, honest report on the pipeline, wins, losses and what competitors are doing.
• Suggest new markets, services or partnerships that could help us grow.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor degree in business, marketing, engineering, architecture or a related field.
• At least three (3) years of business development or sales experience, ideally in construction, engineering, architecture or building services.
• Strong written and spoken English, and the confidence to make the first call.
• A basic understanding of BIM and building services is preferred. You do not need to be an engineer, because our technical team will support you.
• Experience with LinkedIn outreach.
• Self-motivated, organised and comfortable working to targets.

Working conditions

Full-time, permanent role based at our Melbourne office. No work from home is allowed for this position.
