Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $75,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Milton QLD 4064

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Metal Fabricator to join their team in Queensland. Your job duties will include, but not limited to, the following:

• Reading and interpreting construction and engineering blueprints
• Accurately measuring materials required for installation
• Cutting steel and metal components to precise lengths
• Preparing surfaces prior to assembly (cleaning, marking, grinding)
• Welding metal parts together (MIG, TIG, arc welding)
• Assembling posts, beams, frames, and braces using bolts and welds
• Installing base plates and fixing systems on ground or elevated areas
• Drilling and aligning components for a perfect fit
• Adjusting alignment using a spirit level or laser level
• Fixing structural elements to concrete pads or metal foundations
• Erecting prefabricated metal structures on-site
• Installing metal roofing sheets, cladding, gutters, and flashings
• Reading site-specific plans and adjusting layout based on conditions
• Installing shade sails and tensile structures
• Using tensioning tools, shackles, stainless steel cables, and carabiners
• Securing shade sails to anchor points (metal posts or walls)
• Performing repairs or re-tensioning when needed
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements:

• AQF Certificate III or higher in Sheet Metal Fabrication or a related field
• At least three (3) years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above
• At least two (2) years’ experience as Metal Fabricator is required
• Proven ability to read plans and accurately estimate materials and time.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
