Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join their team located in Hamilton, Queensland.

As an Electrical Engineer you will play a key role in delivering technical consultancy and engineering solutions across high and low voltage networks. This role involves planning, design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems, as well as supporting asset management, network reliability, and the integration of emerging technologies within the Australian power industry.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, analyse and review electrical systems for power distribution networks, substations, and industrial installations.
• Conduct condition assessments and diagnostic investigations on electrical assets such as switchgear, transformers, and cables to identify performance issues and life-extension opportunities.
• Develop and implement asset management and maintenance strategies to improve network reliability, safety and cost efficiency.
• Provide technical consulting and engineering support to clients on network performance, reliability assurance and power system optimisation.
• Prepare and review electrical drawings, technical specifications, test reports and project documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Undertake fault analysis and root cause investigations to support decision-making and risk mitigation.
• Support the design and integration of control, protection, and monitoring systems for smart grid applications and distributed energy resources (DERs).
• Coordinate project resources, schedules and budgets to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of engineering services.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including utilities, industrial clients, contractors, and equipment manufacturers, to deliver effective engineering outcomes.
• Contribute to research and innovation in areas such as network modernisation, grid resilience, and sustainable energy technologies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian standards, electrical safety regulations, and advancements in power systems engineering.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• At least two (2) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
• Experience in power systems engineering, asset management, or utility operations preferred.
• Strong understanding of HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems.
• Experience using the suite of UltraTEV instrumentation for measuring and locating Partial Discharge (PD) during the condition assessment of high voltage switchgear, cables and transformers is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of the installation and remote data analysis of LV monitoring systems across a broad range of LV infrastructure including distribution and industrial is highly desirable.
• Strong report writing skills.

• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia and/or professional registration desirable.
