Salary: $74,000 to $79,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Tarneit VIC 3029

Our client G & G Bricklaying Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified Bricklayer to join their team in delivering high-quality bricklaying services across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. The Bricklayer will be responsible for constructing and repairing structures made of brick, block, and other masonry materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Brick and Block Laying:

• Lay bricks and blocks in mortar to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, and other structures.
• Use various techniques for buttering brick joints, building corners, and laying to the line.

Site Preparation:

• Set out sites with the necessary materials.
• Load and unload materials as required.

Construction Techniques:

• Build double-skinned walls with brick on edge coping and piers.
• Construct small extensions or porches to building regulations using face brickwork and lightweight blocks with cavity ties and insulation.

Structural Integrity:

• Fit sub-floors including damp proof membranes (dpm), door/window profiles, and close cavities using vertical damp proof courses (dpc).
• Set lintels, cavity trays, and weep-holes.

Advanced Masonry Work:

• Perform advanced forms of brickwork such as corbelling, arch building, and decorative panelling.

Mortar Mixing:

• Gauge and mix mortar for various construction purposes.
• Understand the properties of mortar and its components.

Safety Compliance:

• Follow safety practices and requirements in the masonry trade.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations.

Mathematical Calculations:

• Use mathematics to calculate distances, areas, and volumes for masonry construction work.

Plan Interpretation:

• Interpret information and specifications from drawings and construction plans for residential construction projects.

Tool Use:

• Use hand and power tools for the production of mortar, cutting of masonry units, and placing of masonry units.

Requirements:

• Certificate III in bricklaying
• At least 12 months of relevant experience as a Bricklayer
• Valid Victorian Drivers Licence
• Proven experience in bricklaying and masonry construction.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to perform precise and quality brickwork.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong physical stamina and manual dexterity.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in using masonry tools and equipment.
