Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking a Team Member to join their team located in Morayfield, Queensland.

As a Team Member you will work directly with young people and their families in out of home care and in home support to promote, strengthen and develop their potential with a focus on building positive relationships and supporting wellbeing, development, and community engagement.

This role includes supporting the reunification of young people with their families or carers, helping them access education and training, manage behaviours, and build life skills, all while maintaining a safe and stable living environment.

Team Members will uphold the values of Respect, Integrity, Engagement, Emotional Intelligence, and deliver quality outcomes through tailored support plans reflecting the individual needs of each young person. These plans aim to reduce anti-social behaviour, improve school attendance, and promote positive social outcomes including access to employment and training pathways.

Responsibilities

The Team Member is responsible for providing day-to-day support to young people, contributing to their emotional, social, and developmental wellbeing. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Education – Support the young person’s learning journey through engagement with schools, alternative education providers, or home-schooling arrangements in line with Queensland education requirements.
• Transportation and access – Facilitate access to family visits, education, medical appointments, and recreational or extracurricular activities such as horse riding, drama, dancing, swimming lessons, sport and other community activities.
• Nutrition and daily living – Plan, purchase, prepare, and support healthy meals and independent living skills, including hygiene and health education.
• Family and social connection – Facilitate and monitor in-person family visits and phone contact, in line with Department directives.
• Behaviour support – Assist children in managing and learning behaviours and interpersonal skills that promote a healthy living environment
• Supportive practice – Use approaches that recognise and respond to the individual needs and experiences of young people to promote their wellbeing and development.
• Empowerment and advocacy – Encourage and support young people to express their views and make decisions about their lives, while representing their interests where needed.
• Daily environment – Ensure the living environment supports stability, routine, and wellbeing.
• Daily reporting – Team Members must be able to effectively provide reports, both written and verbal as per Company and Departmental requirements, reporting includes input to Weekly Progress Reports and accurate and timely Critical Incident Reporting.
• Household – Ensure the general upkeep and maintenance of the home and car at above the minimum required standard, this will include tasks such as laundry, vacuuming, dusting, dishwashing, sanitising, and basic gardening
• Community engagement – Support young people to build confidence and independence through meaningful engagement in community activities, sport, and peer relationships. This includes assisting with preparation, planting, growing and harvesting of our food gardens.

Key Accountabilities

• Keep written records and produce reports, as requested, in accordance with Departmental policies and procedures
• Be responsible for purchasing goods and conducting such transactions in accordance with financial regulations
• Assess and promote children’s development
• Develop links with and utilise the resources of the community
• Maintain confidentiality
• Promote an atmosphere in which parents/carers are encouraged to take responsibility for meeting
• needs of children (as approved by the Department)
• To remain abreast and informed of current thinking in relation to professional conduct and practice and contribute to service development
• Manage challenging behaviours in a professional manner as per company policy
• Team Members must actively participate in the team that they are working in to ensure common goals are being pursued

Other duties

• Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities, including regular attendance at both house and team meetings
• Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job
• Undertake health and safety duties as detailed in Support Services Health and Safety Policy

Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma of Community Services OR at least three (3) years of work experience may substitute for formal qualification
• Minimum of at least one (1) year of relevant work experience
• Must possess a Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
• Valid drivers licence
• Working knowledge of youth-specific services and resources
• Demonstrated experience working with young people, particularly those facing complex challenges
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and relate to young people from diverse backgrounds
• Problem-solving skills, creativity, and a proactive attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
