As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for curating and managing the product assortment for the retail store. Your role is pivotal in shaping our store’s inventory, driving sales, and enhancing the customer shopping experience. You will be responsible for sourcing products, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring the store offers a diverse and compelling range of products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Choose a diverse and appealing selection of products that align with customer tastes and seasonal needs, ensuring the store’s offerings stay current with market trends and reflect our brand’s identity. This responsibility involves intentional planning for variations in seasons and holidays.
• Stay informed about the latest market shifts, consumer trends, and rival products. Conduct detailed research and analysis to assess customer demand, comprehend the competitive environment, and guide the choice of products.
• Interact with suppliers to negotiate prices, aiming for the most cost-effective deals that do not sacrifice quality.
• Compare and select appropriate suppliers for purchasing requests and figure out alternatives as needed.
• Supervise the ordering of products, considering up-to-date sales information, current inventory, and market factors to maintain appropriate stock levels. Implement strategies based on data to handle inventory, avoiding overstocking or understocking, and fine-tuning the store’s product range.
• Manage the procurement budget, aligning it with the store’s financial objectives. Make calculated, cost-conscious buying decisions to boost the store’s profitability.
• Ensure with certainty that all procured products meet strict quality and safety standards, involving in-depth inspections, product testing, and liaising with quality assurance teams.
• Collaborate intimately with the store director and management team to create promotional activities, sales tactics, and marketing initiatives that enhance product sales and attract customer participation.
• Produce and share consistent reports that outline sales metrics, stock quantities, and product success. Use these analyses to influence decisions, identify opportunities for improvement, and form upcoming procurement plans.
• Demonstrate proficiency in various procurement software and platforms, such as METCASH TRADING SYSTEM (CONVENIENCE), Askross, Royal Food Trading Portal, ALM, and UBER Merchant Portal, ensuring orders are processed efficiently and managed effectively.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in relevant field
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification
• Diploma or above in Business would be also highly regarded

Skills:

• Minimum three (3) years of working experience in procurement or a related role.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control.
• Familiarity with legal and contractual matters related to procurement.
• Analytical and data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency in market analysis and trend identification.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances.
