Position: Mechanical Engineer

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $80,000 to $100,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Minto NSW 2566

Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team in Minto, New South Wales.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Designing and developing trailer bodies, rigid truck bodies and specialised transport equipment.
• Preparing conceptual designs and detailed production drawings for various truck and trailer configurations, including curtain siders, flat-top trailers and customised vehicle bodies.
• Producing accurate engineering documentation using CAD software and providing engineering support throughout the manufacturing process to ensure product quality and timely project completion.
• Coordinating with the Production Department to ensure fabrication is carried out in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Liaising with fabricators and workshop personnel to resolve technical issues during manufacturing.
• Coordinating with the Purchasing Department to identify and procure materials and components required for projects.
• Communicating with suppliers regarding technical specifications of mechanical parts and components.
• Reviewing engineering designs to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, safety requirements and customer specifications.
• Assisting with product development, design improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant post-qualification experience in mechanical design, preferably within the automotive, heavy vehicle, trailer or manufacturing industry.
• Demonstrated proficiency using CAD software such as SolidWorks, BricsCAD, AutoCAD or equivalent.
• Experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of engineering materials, manufacturing processes and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of Australian vehicle design standards and relevant engineering regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
