Salary: $79,000 to $82,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking a skilled Cook to join their restaurant located in Edge Hill, Cairns Far North Queensland.

The Cook is a hands-on member of the kitchen team responsible for preparing and cooking food for the restaurant service. The role supports the day-to-day delivery of the menu by completing kitchen preparation, cooking dishes to venue standards, maintaining a clean and organised work area, and working closely with the wider team to ensure food is served consistently and on time.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook menu items using the cooking methods and kitchen equipment appropriate to the dish and Guerrilla’s service requirements.
• Complete daily food preparation and mise en place for restaurant service, including washing, cutting, trimming and portioning ingredients.
• Monitor cooking processes and equipment to ensure food is cooked safely, consistently and to the required standard.
• Season and finish dishes during preparation and cooking in accordance with venue recipes, specifications and presentation standards.
• Portion and plate food consistently, including applying sauces, garnishes and other finishing elements as required for service.
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before and during preparation and raise any concerns regarding unsuitable or poor-quality food.
• Prepare meals in accordance with customer dietary requirements and allergen procedures where applicable.
• Store, label and rotate food appropriately and maintain required temperature controls to support food safety and minimise wastage.
• Keep the allocated kitchen section, equipment, utensils and preparation areas clean, organised and ready for service.
• Work closely with other kitchen and front-of-house team members to coordinate orders and maintain efficient service during busy periods.
• Assist with monitoring and replenishing ingredients and kitchen supplies required for service and participate in stock rotation and stocktakes as required.
• Follow all applicable food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety and company procedures.

Requirements:

• AQF Certificate III or higher qualification in relevant field.
• At least one (1) year of work experience as a Cook or in a similar role.
• Ability to prepare and cook food using a range of cooking methods and commercial kitchen equipment.
• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining food quality and presentation standards.
• Good teamwork, communication and organisational skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
