Our client Short Order Burger Co is a popular Western Australian burger restaurant specialising in freshly prepared burgers and casual dining. With locations across Perth CBD, Fremantle and Baldivis, Short Order is known for delivering quality, freshly prepared food in a busy and fast-paced restaurant environment.

They are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join their kitchen team on a full-time basis. This position is suited to someone who enjoys working in a high-volume kitchen, takes pride in food quality and consistency, and can work effectively as part of a close-knit team.

About You:

You will have previous experience working as a Cook in a busy restaurant, burger restaurant, café or similar high-volume food service environment.

You will be comfortable working across different areas of the kitchen, including food preparation, grill and cooking stations, and will understand the importance of consistency, portion control, food safety and efficient service.

You will have a positive attitude, good organisational skills and the ability to remain calm and productive during busy service periods.

Your job duties will include, but not limited to, the following:

• Preparing and cooking burgers, proteins, sides and other menu items in accordance with Short Order’s recipes, specifications and presentation standards.
• Preparing ingredients for daily service, including portioning, cutting, seasoning and preparing meats, vegetables, sauces and other ingredients.
• Operating grills, fryers and other commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Cooking and assembling menu items accurately and consistently during busy service periods.
• Monitoring cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is properly prepared and meets quality and food safety requirements.
• Checking the quality and freshness of ingredients before and during food preparation.
• Following established recipes, portion sizes and preparation methods to maintain consistency across all dishes.
• Assisting with receiving, storing and rotating food supplies and ingredients in accordance with appropriate stock rotation procedures.
• Monitoring ingredient and stock levels and advising senior kitchen staff when additional supplies are required.
• Minimising food wastage through appropriate preparation, portion control and storage practices.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic workstation throughout preparation and service.
• Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, preparation areas and cooking stations as required.
• Ensuring food is stored, labelled and handled correctly in accordance with food safety requirements.
• Following workplace health and safety, hygiene and food handling procedures at all times.
• Working closely with other kitchen and front-of-house team members to ensure orders are prepared accurately and efficiently.
• Assisting with the preparation and cooking of food during peak trading periods and ensuring orders are completed within appropriate service times.
• Assisting with training and providing practical guidance to junior kitchen staff where required.

Requirements:

• Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery is required
• Must have at least 12 months of experience as a Cook
• Experience in a busy, high-volume restaurant, burger restaurant, or similar food service environment is highly regarded.
• Cool under pressure and excited by a challenging fast paced environment
• To lead by example and be very hands on
• Strong level of attention to detail and consistency
• Ability to bring the best out of your team and apprentices
• Understanding of food safety standards and HACCP.
• Maintaining hygiene in the kitchen.
