Location: Torrensville SA 5031 – Working at project sites across metropolitan Adelaide and South Australia.

Our client Titan Structural Group is a South Australian structural construction contractor delivering specialist services across civil, commercial and residential projects. Our work includes reinforcement and post-tensioning packages, minor form/ reinforcement/ concrete packages, structural concrete remedial works and site coordination.

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter with strong formwork and structural carpentry capability to join our project teams.

The successful candidate will undertake skilled carpentry work associated with structural concrete construction. This includes interpreting drawings, setting out work, fabricating and erecting formwork, checking structural accuracy and maintaining reusable formwork systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Interpret structural drawings, specifications and site measurements to determine required materials, dimensions and construction methods.
• Set out work areas and calculate the measurements required for formwork and associated carpentry structures.
• Measure, mark, cut, shape and assemble timber, plywood and lightweight metal components.
• Construct and erect formwork systems for concrete slabs, beams, columns, walls, stairs, foundations and other structural elements.
• Position, secure and brace formwork to maintain stability throughout the construction process.
• Check formwork for correct line, level, plumb, dimensions and specified tolerances before concrete placement.
• Incorporate required openings, penetrations, block-outs and cast-in items into formwork structures.
• Identify and rectify movement, leakage, alignment or stability problems affecting formwork systems.
• Remove formwork after the required curing period without damaging the finished concrete or reusable components.
• Inspect, clean, repair, modify and maintain reusable formwork systems, temporary supports and carpentry materials.
• Select and operate appropriate carpentry hand and power tools.
• Coordinate with site supervisors and adjoining structural trades to complete work in accordance with project drawings, construction programs and quality requirements.
• Perform all carpentry work in accordance with workplace health and safety, environmental and site procedures.

Requirements:

• A relevant trade qualification or at least three years of full-time experience in formwork carpentry or closely related structural carpentry.
• A minimum of five (5) years of proven experience in carpentry
• Demonstrated practical experience constructing and removing formwork for reinforced concrete structures.
• Experience working on commercial, civil, residential or multi-storey construction projects.
• The ability to read construction drawings and accurately apply measurements, dimensions and specifications on site.
• Competence in measuring, cutting, fitting and assembling timber, plywood and metal formwork materials.
• Experience using carpentry hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• The ability to set out and complete carpentry work accurately with limited supervision.
• The ability to identify and rectify formwork alignment, stability and workmanship issues.
• Strong time-management skills and the ability to meet construction deadlines.
• The ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with supervisors and adjoining trades.
• A strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

• Construction Induction White Card or ability to obtain one before commencing employment
• Working at Heights and other relevant construction tickets are desirable but not essential
• Commitment to workplace health and safety standards
