Our client Y.R.K KUTZZ is a professional men’s barbershop operating studios in Noble Park and Berwick, Victoria. The business specialises in custom haircuts and designs, precision beard work and men’s grooming services tailored to each client’s preferences. The Noble Park studio at 256 Railway Parade is the workplace for this position.

To meet growing client demand and maintain the high standard of finish the business is known for, Y.R.K KUTZZ requires a skilled Hairdresser (Barber) to deliver advanced cutting, styling and grooming services and to contribute to the day-to-day running of the studio.

The Hairdresser (Barber) is responsible for delivering professional haircutting, styling and grooming services to clients of Y.R.K KUTZZ. The role requires consulting with clients on their style requirements, performing precision cutting and finishing techniques, providing grooming advice and recommending products, while maintaining a clean, safe and well-presented work environment that reflects the standards of the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consulting with clients to determine their hairstyle, length and finish preferences and recommending suitable cuts and styles.
• Cutting, trimming, tapering, layering, shaping and styling hair using combs, scissors, razors and electric clippers, including fades, skin fades, scissor cuts and clipper work.
• Designing and executing custom haircuts, line-ups, hair patterns and freehand designs to client specifications.
• Shampooing, conditioning and treating hair and scalp conditions as required.
• Trimming, shaping and sculpting beards and facial hair, and performing razor and hot-towel shaves and finishing.
• Bleaching, tinting, colouring, straightening and styling hair using chemical solutions and specialist equipment where required.
• Recommending hair care, beard care and grooming products and advising clients on at-home maintenance.
• Cleaning, sterilising, oiling and adjusting cutting tools and equipment, and maintaining hygiene and infection-control standards.
• Maintaining client records, managing bookings and supporting front-of-house and point-of-sale operations.
• Keeping the work area clean, presentable and safe, and complying with all workplace health and safety requirements.

Requirements:

Essential

• AQF Certificate III in Hairdressing or Certificate III in Barbering (or a qualification assessed as equivalent), or relevant work experience demonstrating an equivalent skill level.
• At least 12 months of relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience in men’s cutting, fading and styling techniques and precision beard work.
• Sound knowledge of grooming products, tools and hygiene and infection-control practices.
• Strong client-consultation and communication skills and a high standard of personal presentation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy studio, both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

• Experience with custom hair designs, patterns and styling for a diverse client base.
• Familiarity with booking, point-of-sale and social-media tools used in a modern barbershop.

Terms and Conditions

• The position is full-time and ongoing, based at 256 Railway Parade, Noble Park VIC 3174.
• Standard hours are 38 per week, worked across the studio’s operating days, which include weekends; reasonable additional hours may be required.
• Remuneration and all terms and conditions of employment will meet or exceed the minimum standards under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and any applicable modern award.
• The guaranteed annual earnings will be no less than the applicable Core Skills Income Threshold and no less than the Annual Market Salary Rate for the position.
