Position: Early Childhood Educator (Child Care Worker)

Position Type: Full-Time, ongoing

Salary: $78,000 to $81,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Liverpool NSW 2170

Our client operates an approved long day care and early childhood education service for children aged 0–6 years, delivering safe and nurturing care, school-readiness programs, developmental activities and ongoing family communication. The Early Childhood Educator (Child Care Worker) plays a central role in the day-to-day care, supervision and development of children at the centre.

Working within the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations, the National Quality Framework (NQF) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the Educator delivers planned play-based learning experiences, supervises and supports children’s wellbeing, and works collaboratively with families and the educator team to promote each child’s physical, social, emotional, language and intellectual development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Care and supervision

• Supervising and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children at all times, including during indoor and outdoor play, rest periods, meal times and excursions.
• Assisting children with daily routines including feeding, dressing, nappy changing, toileting and personal hygiene, and guiding children in developing appropriate eating, dressing and toileting habits.
• Providing for the emotional, psychological and social wellbeing of children, offering comfort, reassurance and positive guidance.
• Observing children to identify signs of ill-health, emotional disturbance, developmental delay or other concerns, and reporting these to the Centre Director and families as appropriate.

Learning and development

• Helping to prepare, implement and review play-based educational programs and activities that enable children to develop physically, mentally, emotionally and socially, in line with the Early Years Learning Framework.
• Promoting the social, emotional, physical, language and intellectual development of children through age-appropriate experiences and interactions.
• Supporting school-readiness programs and developmental activities for children transitioning to formal schooling.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, social skills, cooperation and respect among children, and maintaining appropriate guidance and a safe environment.

Records, communication and compliance

• Observing, documenting and maintaining accurate records of each child’s development, routines, learning and daily activities.
• Communicating and liaising with parents and guardians regarding their child’s progress, daily experiences, wellbeing and care needs.
• Maintaining a clean, hygienic, safe and stimulating learning environment, including the preparation and tidying of equipment, materials and play areas.
• Complying with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, the National Quality Standard, work health and safety requirements, and centre policies and procedures, including child protection and mandatory reporting obligations.
• Adhering to required educator-to-child ratios and supervision requirements at all times.

Requirements:

Essential

• A qualification assessed as at least equivalent to an Australian Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or a higher relevant qualification), recognised under the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
• A Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
• A minimum of 12months relevant full-time (or full-time equivalent) experience in a children’s education and care setting.
• A current Working with Children Check (NSW) and current first aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma management certification (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
• Sound knowledge of the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework.

Desirable

• Experience working across the 0–6 age range in a long day care environment.
