Position: Pastry Cook

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $75,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Fortitude Valley QLD 4006

Our client is seeking an experienced Pastry Cook to join their team located in Fortitude Valley, Queensland.

Tasks required include:

• Prepare, bake, and decorate a wide range of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards
• Ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients used in pastry preparation
• Ensure all products meet quality, taste, and presentation standards
• Conduct regular taste tests and make necessary adjustments to recipes and processes
• Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained according to health and safety standards
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry kitchen, including workspaces and storage areas
• Operate and maintain pastry equipment and machinery
• Experiment with new techniques and ingredients to create unique and high-quality products
• Measure and mix ingredients accurately to form doughs, batters, and fillings
• Manage inventory levels and order supplies to ensure the availability of necessary ingredients and materials
• Monitor the quality and consistency of finished products
• Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained according to health and safety standards.

Requirements:

• Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in Patisserie, Baking or a related field
• At least three (3) years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification
• At least three (3) years of full-time experience working as a Pastry Cook
• Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods and dessert preparation
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain high product quality and consistency
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards in a commercial kitchen environment
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
