Salary: $79,500 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Ipswich QLD 4305

Our client is seeking a Lead Educator to join their Early Childhood Education and Care located in Ipswich, Queensland.

The position of Lead Educator is responsible for supervising children through planning and programming for their individual needs, as well as working closely with the assistant to achieve your expectations and outcomes for the children and their families.

As a Lead Educator you will follow the direction and leadership given by the Director and have an absolute understanding and adherence to the Education and Care National Regulations 2011 and Law 2010 and Policies and Procedures governing the Centre.

It is the responsibility of the Lead Educator to read and gain an understanding of the expectations set by the company its Philosophy and Values.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality

Deliver high quality care and education that meets the requirements of the National Quality Framework.

• Comply with the centre’s policies and procedures.
• Review policies regularly to ensure understanding and provides feedback when required.
• Contribute to the development of the centres Quality Improvement Plan through participating in regular self-assessment opportunities.
• Contribute to ensuring that the centre is compliant of all legislation and regulations relating to the industry and centre.
• Develop and deliver a high-quality Educational Program that is reflective of all aspects relating to the Educational Program and implementation.
• Participate in monthly reviews of the Educational Program delivered. Accepts feedback and works collaboratively to achieve continuous improvement.

Health and Safety

Actively maintains the centre presentation and OH&S requirements to ensure a safe environment.

• Contribute to ensuring that the centre is clean and tidy, well presented and maintained to expectations.
• Implement all health and safety policies consistently. Supports educators to understand and follow these policies.
• Ensure all checklists and forms relating to health and safety are completed daily, weekly, monthly or as required.
• Administer medication to children as per the requirements of the policy.
• Identify and addresses risks and non-compliance in the centre.
• Understand and uphold mandatory reporting obligations as per jurisdiction law, policies and procedures.

Centre Management

Actively applies effective room management strategies to ensure effective operation of the allocated environment.

• Ensure that all checklists and documents relating to the allocated room are up to date and completed accurately.
• Maintain records relating to children within the allocated room.
• Ensure the environment is well presented.
• Check communication channels daily and actions as required.

Partnerships

Supports productive and purposeful relationships both in and out of the service.

• Maintain and promotes the communication channels within the service.
• Ensure that any enquiries received are entered into the centre communication tool and communicated to the Centre Director.
• Work collaboratively with the Centre Director to develop an understanding of the diverse needs of the community of the Centre and works to be an active part of the community.
• Professionally communicate with new enquiries to build reciprocal relationship with families and communicate the benefits with enrolling with the centre.
• Build respectful and reciprocal relationships with children and families.

People Leadership 

Provides Leadership and direction to Assistant Educators.

• Participate in regular professional development opportunities either in centre or externally.
• Identify own training needs.
• Provide support and guidance to new staff.
• Support all team members and work collaboratively as part of the team.
• Establish and foster communication between staff in order to build a committed and united team.
• Actively participate in annual Appraisals positively.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or ACECQA equivalent
• First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, Asthma and Anaphylaxis
• Current Suitability Card (as per state requirement)
• Food Handling Certificate
• Child Protection Training and Mandatory Child Safety Certificates.

Required skills, knowledge and abilities:

• At least three (3) years of relevant work experience
• Food preparation skills and food awareness knowledge
• Proven experience within an Early childhood service
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to supervise and organise staff
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Framework
• Working knowledge of the Education and Care National Regulations 2011 and Law 2010
• Programming knowledge and ability to create meaningful programs in line with Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Framework
• Educators who are under the age of 25 will be required to be part of the Young Workers Program until they are 25 years of age.
