Bricklayer Full Time

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $55,000.00 to $65,000.00 plus superannuation per annum

Location: Tarneit VIC 3029

Our client Rakkar Bricklaying is seeking an experienced full time Bricklayer to join their team located in Tarneit.

Tasks required include:

• Laying brick and block, using mortar to bond masonry units, and patterns
• Loading & setting out the site with materials
• Buttering brick joints
• Building corners plumb and level
• Laying to the line & various pointing techniques,
• Various brick bonding techniques
• Building a double skinned wall with brick on edge coping and piers
• Construction of a small extension/porch to building regulations using face brickwork and lightweight blocks incorporating a cavity with ties and insulation,
• Fitting the sub-floor including dpm, door/window profiles and closing the cavities using vertical dpc
• Setting the lintels, cavity trays & weep-holes
• Advanced forms of brickwork such as corbelling, arch building and decorative panelling
• Gauging & mixing mortar
• Following safety practices and requirements to comply with in the masonry trade
• Understanding the properties of mortar and the components that make up the mixture; the chemical and physical properties of cement, sand, and various types of admixtures; and procedures for storing materials and mixing mortar
• Using mathematics to figure distances, areas, and volumes for masonry construction work
• Interpreting the information and specifications on drawings and construction plans for residential construction
• Correct use of various hand and power tools used in the production of mortar, cutting of masonry units, and placing of masonry units.

Requirements:

• Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV in Bricklaying
• Diploma in Building and Construction
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Bricklayer.
